World Refugee Day: Balboa Park’s Museum of Photographic Arts will host World Refugee Day from 1 to 6 p.m. The event will celebrate San Diego as the refugee resettlement capital of the world by featuring food, photography and special guest speakers, such as Don Bartletti, Pulitzer Prize winner, Fady Hadid, award-winning filmmakers, and more. The event will include documentary premieres, discussions and San Diego-based photography. The event is free and includes access to the museum’s regular galleries. Celebration: Spreckels Organ Society will host Celebration, an evening of music, at Balboa Park’s Spreckels Organ Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. Carol Williams, civic organist, will perform with the House of Scotland Pipe Band, the Finest City Brass Herald Trumpets and the Choir of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Admission is free. The concert will follow Bach’s Supper Taco Fiesta, a taco buffet, at the Pavilion at 5 p.m. The supper costs $30 per person and $25 for children 12 and under. Ice cream making: The Hillcrest Farmer’s Market information booth will host an ice cream making event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will learn how to make ice cream. The information booth is located at the center of the farmer’s market. The market consists of 110 vendors of locally grown in-season fruit, crafts and cooked meals and is open rain or shine.
